The Evanna has 2 double guest cabins, each with ensuite. You can join us
aboard as "paying crew".

You dont need to be experienced sailors, nor do you need to be young. (Two of our best crew last year were
grandmothers!) This is a way of
participating in the voyage while at the
same time contributing to the cost of
running a large yacht. For want of better terminology, we came up with "Paying Crew".

Peter looks after the navigation,
maintenance of the ship and engines.
(Peter holds a Master 1V, Marine
Engineering, and Rhine Licence). Carol
assists Peter and does the cooking. (To give
Carol a break, and to taste some of the
local fare we all have dinner ashore two
nights a week). You look after your own
cabin and bathroom, help set the table and
take a turn at the washing up. In fact it’s
a bit like home.

The cost is 125 euros per person per day
sharing a double cabin, 160 euros per day
single occupancy. This is about one third a
normal charter fee, but it helps us cover
the cost of maintenance, winter storage,
insurance, and the running costs of food,
fuel, charts and sailing directions.
|
|
 |
|
This fee covers: All meals on
board. Boat and outboard fuel. Boat
insurance and maintenance.
|
|
 |
|
Any shore expenses such as
car hire, hotels, restaurants etc.
Dinner two nights a week..
Harbour fees. Quite often the harbours are
free.
Sometimes we anchor and take the dingy.
However, if we all want to use a harbour or
a marina, and there is a charge, then we all
share the cost. (usually around 50 Euros
split). Cruising permits, entry fees and
visas. Split between all on board.

The most often asked questions?
What
are the advantages of a private yacht? |
It is an exciting way to travel, and it is
cheaper than a bus tour!
As we sail from harbour to harbour, country
to country there’s so much to see and do.
Sometimes we anchor in a sheltered bay and
take the dingy ashore, other times we tie up
in a port, especially if we want to hit the
town. Quite often we all share the cost of a
hire car for touring inland.

Breakfast is fruit, cereal, toast; and lunch
is a picnic, either on deck or ashore.
Dinner is a more serious affair. As we will
be sailing close to shore we can buy most
provisions fresh along the way. Carol
trained in the Paris cooking schools and was
chef on board the "Etoile" for 8 years.
We’re sure you will enjoy the meals on
board.

Life on board a yacht is relatively simple, and very casual. Shorts, t-shirts,
jeans and rubber soled shoes on board, with something to wear ashore. Bring soft luggage that will fold and stow.
